When "Volny Don" begins its program
the scenery becomes gay and colourful. The costumes, songs and dances
are changed in impetuous rate. Among them there are war-campaign,
conversational songs, which show historical facts, the way of peaceful
and war life of Don cossacks; lyrical, long, wide, family's songs
and, of course, gay, dance, comic and quick ones. Each musical-dance
composition is a little episode of cossacks' life. Using unique
national material the ensemble made a large and various program.
Here are some of the most interesting musical-dance
compositions.
Composition
"At The Cathedral"
Its plot is based on the events of the end of the 17-th century.
The cossacks headed by Ignat Nekrasov were forced by tsar soldiers
to leave for Turkey. They lived more than 250 years there, keeping
all the features of cossacks' culture. |
